DIRECTIONAL ORIENTATION OF MOUNTING
Radial directions are fairly self-explanatory, horizontal (H) and vertical (V).

Directional descriptions for shafts that are not horizontally oriented are taken with regard to the base plate of the motor or other driving unit.
Axial (A) readings are always taken parallel to the shaft, but the actual placement may vary from bearing to bearing depending on what is to be studied.

Consistent placement (H, V & A) is essential if amplitude data is to be trended. I suggest marking the measurement points if data is to be recorded by various personnel.
