Safety concerns where life or limb is in danger,
an emergency.
09 BREAKDOWN, POOR QUALITY
Equipment or process failure. Major potential
problem, breakdown is near.
08 PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE
Inspections and lubrication. Work to prevent
breakdown or repairs.
07 SERVICE WORK, SERIOUS SAFETY
Necessary work during operating periods. Potential
for unsafe conditions.
06 SPARES, CORRECTIVE MAINTENANCE
Work on spare part or units, having no additional
spares. Corrective work to reduce repetitive maintenance.
05 SHUTDOWN WORK
Necessary shutdown work, including safety work not
critical enough to require immediate shutdown.
04 ROUTINE WORK, NORMAL SAFETY
Work on spare parts or units, normal maintenance,
including routine safety work.
03 PRODUCTION OR QUALITY IMPROVEMENT
Necessary work to improve quality or quantity of
production, maintenance or materials handling.
02 COST REDUCTION
Cost reduction work not falling into one of the
higher classes.
